KITCHEN REMODELING TIPS

Ready to remodel your kitchen? Here’s what you need to know…

They make it look so fun and easy on TV!  For most of us, however, the reality is that we don’t have a team of experts descending on our homes while we head off on vacation for a week, only to return to a completely renovated, picture-perfect house.  The design team at Carole Kitchen and Bath Design offers these tips for people who are getting ready for a kitchen remodel.

Work with a kitchen designer

1. Work with a kitchen designer…in a legit showroom

Engage with an experienced kitchen designer, like those at Carole’s, who are trained and knowledgeable in the details of kitchen cabinetry, counters, lighting, and more. Does the designer use a showroom to showcase cabinet details and display all the door styles and colors available?

Be sure to assess the customer service at the kitchen studios you are considering. Do they simply sell cabinets, or do they support their customers from start to finish? Is the designer and their company responsive, approachable, and accessible? Will you meet with one designer consistently, or will you be bounced from person to person? Will you be interrupted by noisy overhead pages and other customers’ questions in a busy home center chain? Is there a team behind your designer to support you?

At Carole’s, you will have a dedicated designer, a quiet and spacious showroom, and a support team ready to answer any questions you have at any time during your project.

2. Evaluate your current kitchen

Before you begin your kitchen remodeling project it is important to evaluate your current space and determine how the remodeled room will be used. Do you like the layout? Do you want to relocate your appliances? Do you want to expand the area and open up the space?

Your Carole’s designer will help you determine how to maximize your existing space for functionality as well as style. We can also recommend appliance location, backsplash choices, and more.

3. Do Your Homework

Every kitchen project is different and each customer has unique styles, tastes, and cooking preferences.  So browse through photos like our photo gallery to determine which images best represent your personal style and taste.  Find pictures from magazines or websites like Houzz and Pinterest that you like.  But don’t panic if you are unsure about your design style.  Your Carole’s kitchen designer will guide you through the entire process and help you identify the look and style that best reflects you and your family.

The Carole’s Design Studio is one of the largest showrooms in Massachusetts with over 30 kitchen displays.  Carole’s gives clients access to significantly more door styles, cabinet features, and brands than big box stores and other cabinet dealers.  And we also show hundreds of popular types of countertop materials and cabinet hardware (knobs and pulls).

4. Determine a budget

Not sure how much you should invest in your new kitchen?  Don’t worry, your Carole Kitchen and Bath Designer will work with you and determine a realistic investment figure for your new kitchen.  We sell many different brands of cabinetry, at various price points, to meet the needs of every customer.  We have stock cabinetry, semi-custom cabinets, and full-custom offerings.

The kitchen is the most important room in your home.  You spend time here every day – cooking and entertaining. Work with the cabinet experts at Carole’s to create a space that is functional and beautiful.  Investing in a remodeled kitchen will make you love your house and increase the value of your home.

Plan your timeline

5. Plan your timeline

Home design television shows have helped many people feel less intimidated by undertaking major home improvement projects. On the other hand, sometimes people can underestimate the time needed to get from the concepts and planning stage to completion. Designing your new kitchen will take some careful planning and attention to detail.

Depending on the scope of your project, kitchen remodeling projects can take anywhere from several weeks to several months to complete. Your Carole Kitchen and Bath designer will guide you through the entire process – including the styling choices to create a kitchen layout and look that’s perfect for you and your family!

6. Hire an experienced remodeler

You are welcome to hire anyone you want to install your cabinets, or you can choose from one of the many experienced kitchen remodeling firms that Carole’s has worked with in the past.  We have been in the same Woburn location for over three decades and have a vetted list of reliable builders. Either way, you should be sure to interview several contractors, get cost estimates, and discuss their availability to make sure it meets your schedule.
